Job Summary:
Quaker Chemical is the Chemical Manager for Nucor Steel in Hickman, AR. We are the first line of defense for our customer when it comes to process fluid testing. It is through this responsibility that we are able to prove to our customer our value and achieve maximum efficiency by utilizing chemical products in the most effective way.
Shift:
This full-time position has rotating, 12 hour shifts (4 days on, 4 days off) with rotation from day shift to night shift. Hourly rate begins at $14.00. Temp to perm position after successfully completing 90 day introductory period.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the collection, analysis, testing and recording of process fluid samples.
Perform sampling and wet bench chemical analysis of process fluids.
Make addition of chemicals; including coolants, oils, lubricants, acids and caustic as directed by site staff or operating protocols.
Carry various size samples of rolled steel and perform metallurgical testing.
Assist in properly maintaining tools and utility equipment. Assist in maintaining and calibrating all lab equipment.
Will be required to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Must be able to don and wear PPE.
Must follow all Quaker Chemical and customer safety procedures.
Maintain chemical, equipment, and product inventories.
Supervise bulk product deliveries.
Qualifications:
Some College level coursework preferred, including some basic chemistry.
Associate will work in a manufacturing steel environment and will be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The associate is exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and trip and slip hazards. The noise level in the manufacturing environment requires hearing protection at all times.
Will be required to stand for long periods and walk great distances daily.
Must be able to lift at least 50lb’s regularly during a 12 hour shift. Must be able to bend/crouch/stoop and dip on a regular basis in order to obtain samples. Must possess ability to walk on slippery/dirty surfaces.
Must be able to don and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Must have basic working knowledge of: Internet software, e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets.
Must have valid driver’s license.
