Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager of Float Pool, Clinical House, and unit-based licensed nursing staff, the Patient Safety Companion/ CO is utilized to sit with patients who are experiencing the following situations including but not limited to : suicide potential, potential to harm self or others, restless and or confused. The safety companion is to maintain continuous visual observation of the patient.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • All sitters must maintain yearly training requirements.

  • American Heart Association BLS/CPR Certification

Category I job classification – HMHP employees who have jobs with tasks that routinely involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues and/or used sharps.
