Position Summary:

In the role of SLED Business Development Manager, your primary responsibility is to drive growth and provide support to internal sales teams within the State, Local, and Education (SLED) sector. You'll offer leadership and expertise at a national level, collaborating closely with district-level management and sales resources. Your extensive experience in the SLED sector equips you with a deep understanding of the procurement cycles and tools used by public sector institutions to acquire products and services.

Your key responsibilities revolve around assisting regional sales leadership and districts in achieving their business objectives through a customer-centric and collaborative approach. This includes driving business development initiatives, offering guidance on sales opportunities, and spearheading growth strategies specific to the SLED vertical.

To succeed in this role, you should hold a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Additionally, a proven track record in business development, particularly within the SLED sector, is crucial. You must possess a comprehensive grasp of the SLED landscape, coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Your ability to think strategically and formulate effective sales and marketing plans, along with strong analytical capabilities to interpret and present sales data and market trends, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software is also expected.

As the Business Development Manager for the SLED Vertical, you play a pivotal role in driving business growth and supporting internal sales efforts within the SLED sector. Your background in business development, coupled with your experience and communication skills, makes you an indispensable asset to our team.

In this role, your key responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting regional sales leadership and districts to achieve business objectives through a customer-centric and collaborative approach.

  2. Focusing on business development initiatives and offering guidance on sales opportunities.

  3. Leading SLED Vertical business growth strategies.

  4. Traveling as necessary to cultivate relationships with strategic accounts, government agencies, and related partners while ensuring customer expectations are met.

  5. Traveling as required to drive business growth and operational excellence.

  6. Participating in SLED-focused product meetings and presentations.

  7. Taking a lead role in high-level customer meetings and presentations.

  8. Collaborating directly with Regional Sales Directors to coordinate and conduct sales training for local field sales teams.

  9. Working closely with District Sales Managers to identify and pursue opportunities.

  10. Assisting the field sales team in uncovering and qualifying opportunities.

  11. Ensuring a smooth transition of qualified opportunities to pre-sales engineering support.

  12. Training field sales teams to follow the playbook when working on opportunities.

  13. Providing coaching, development, and mentoring to local/national sales channels.

  14. Collaborating within a team to manage relationships with existing product vendors/manufacturers and identify potential new vendors, participating in new product rollouts.

  15. Providing a technical sales presence to assist in training local/national sales reps and serving as a source of knowledge in customer meetings.

Minimum qualifications for this role include a minimum of 10 years of industry experience in technology and services sales, with at least 3 years of management experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Experience in related associations and industry board roles is desired but not mandatory, while a proven track record of success is highly desirable.

Pay and Benefits Disclosure

The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 and is based on experience and qualifications. Certain roles are eligible for annual bonus and may include equity. These awards are allocated based on company and individual performance. We offer employees access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, short term and long term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and paid time off among others. Employees accrue up to 120 hours in their first year. Your accrual rate increases after your first year. We also offer 6 paid holidays.
