Summary :

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Supervisor provides hands-on leadership surrounding payroll operations and related administration for nearly 6,000 employees nationwide. This role will partner closely with HR leaders and the Compensation & Benefits team to deliver exemplary service, innovative solutions, customer service and HR service to employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of Payroll administration services to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.

  • Provide leadership to payroll administrators via a hands-on approach

  • Support payroll initiatives to ensure the payroll department is leveraging technology and outsourcing services to drive efficiencies.

  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations. Leverage outsourcing service providers to ensure compliance with tax requirements, including accurate tax withholdings and reporting.

  • Support audit and compliance activities.

  • Provide leadership surrounding customer problem resolution and escalation. Provide guidance and support to employees regarding payroll-related matters. Collaborate with HR and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies.

  • Maintain payroll guidelines by following written policies and procedures.

  • Support short- and long-term plans for continuous improvement in payroll operations and benefits administration.

  • Establish relationships with vendors to ensure they are accountable for escalated issues.

  • Support payroll and benefit related tasks for new acquisitions to ensure smooth transitions.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships to ensure the immediate resolution of problems as well as being responsive to future needs.

  • Support Annual Enrollment end to end process including annual improvements and reporting.

  • Demonstrated communication and change management skills, including the ability to effectively translate technical and operational concepts.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Management or another related field required,

  • PMP and/or CPP certification(s) preferred

Experience:

  • Four (4) plus years of payroll, benefits and/or related experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated experience with System Conversions/Upgrades, potentially with ADP and/or UKG

  • Past experience participating in organizational efforts to improve service.

  • Experience in processing multiple Union Payrolls

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks toward timely completions.

  • Solid Organizational and Communication skills.

  • Proven history encompassing strong business acumen and business partnering.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong people leadership skills

  • Thorough understanding of payroll processes tax issues, etc.

  • Knowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments

  • Working payroll knowledge of Section 125 (cafeteria plans) and deferred compensation plans

  • Familiarity with payroll filing requirements for quarterly and annual returns

  • Understanding of amendment process for quarterly and annual filings

  • Understanding of labor management reporting and key concepts

  • Understanding of benefits administration, including new ACA requirements

  • Demonstrate history of strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, prudent risk taking, and collaboration and adaptability competencies

  • Ability to provide leadership to a team to ensure quality standards are met and oversee the production of expected deliverables during all phases of the project life cycle: initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing
