Western Aircraft Aviation Paint & Finish Technician in Boise, Idaho
Job Summary
The Paint & Finish Technician applies pre-mixed and blended paint or coating to well-prepared interior and exterior aircraft parts; applies wood finishes such as stains and high-build clear topcoats to newly refurbished woodwork; performs touch-up and repair of interior and exterior paint work as well as wood cabinetry; and mechanically polishes paint, wood and exterior Brite-Work as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Mixes paints and stains for interior and exterior applications.
Prepares surface areas on aircraft or woodwork for applications.
Constructs temporary paint booths.
Formulates color matched paints/stains to match existing finish.
Inspects, repairs, modifies, aircraft painted or finished surfaces.
Touches up paint and interior woodwork and finish.
Paints aircraft in hangar and parts in paint booth utilizing sprayer.
Coordinates vendor services
Orders consumables and raw materials
Assists with burn testing documents, coupons and travelers as required.
Fire locker control / Expired material control.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Job Requirements
A minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience in aircraft paint / finish application or 5 (five) years related experience.
Strong communication skills
Ability to use power operated machinery.
Ability to work to specifications with an extremely high attention to detail.
Ability to work individually, with a healthy sense of urgency to provide a quality product.
Ability to perform highly physical work duties including climbing and bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working at heights, Reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally.
Ability to pass physical exam required to wear protective respirators.
Other Prerequisites
Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in an aircraft hangar environment with moderate noise level. The employee is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
