Summary:

The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for a Financial Technician, Senior, to function as the lead worker in the Fiscal Non-Prisons Accounting, Accounts Payable unit. The primary responsibility of the Financial Technician Sr. is to support the financial technicians and perform more complex research tasks and reconciliations as assigned by the Financial Specialist, Sr. In addition, the Sr. Technician will assist with training, policies, procedures, and other tasks that will improve the efficiencies of the department and the advancement of Agency knowledge and provide support to the Financial Specialist Sr.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage all facility invoices ensuring the month end close and respond to more complex invoicing issues.

  • Manage SharePoint Unpaid Invoice File.

  • Keep vendors information up to date and triage vendor concerns.

  • Responsible for training new staff and solving invoice issues with current staff.

  • Monitor and recommend workload allocations of the Financial Technicians.

  • Data entry processing invoices-Medical and Transitional Housing Payments.

  • Set up new vendors – W9.

  • Handle vendor concerns.

  • Submit stop payments on warrants.

  • Filing – Electronic Storage.

  • Perform audits and reconciliations.

  • May serve as a lead worker and/or trainer

  • Make recommendations to supervisors and leadership regarding relevant programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Typically gained from completing at least 6 college credits or equivalent covering account principals or approximately 1 year of experience performing accounting duties.

  • Some knowledge of financial record keeping methods. Typically gained from completing at least two college accounting courses and at least one year of experience or by completing one college accounting course and two years of experience or at least three years of experience.

  • Some knowledge of booking practices. Typically gained by having education covering booking practices (such as in high school or above) or having approximately 6 months of work experience performing routine booking functions such as making debit and credit transactions and completing financial worksheets and reports.

  • Some experience using advanced Excel functions. Typically gained from experience creating formulas and employing build-in calculation functions to perform complex financial, statistical, and analytical calculations in Microsoft EXCEL or equivalent spreadsheet software.

  • Some experience researching and compiling financial information preparing summaries and reports. Typically gained from at least one year of experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports or six months of experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports or six months of experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports and two college level or training courses related to researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports ( such as, Accounting. Finance, Bookkeeping, QuickBooks, Microsoft Access and/or Excel, etc.

  • Some experience using personal computers to enter, retrieve and edit financial data. Typically gained from at least two years of experience us MS-Word, Outlook and various web browsers. Equivalent word processing, email and calendaring programs may be acceptable.
