HP Inc. Principal Android Engineer in Boise, Idaho
Job Summary
- This role is responsible for the design of Android technology solutions necessary to support the business strategy and objectives. The role develops innovative technology solutions that enable strategic initiatives to scale the business efficiently. The role has strong focus on software development and operational excellence using Agile and lean practices to create market differentiated solutions.
Responsibilities
Plays a critical role in building of various software development projects and platforms while aligning them with business and security strategies and requirements.
Leads the building of standards, designs, and automates the deployment of software.
Designs and develops solutions that protect and manage software products and data.
Assists supervisors with project development, including documentation of features, recording of progress, and creation of the testing plan.
Converts business concepts into the next generation of applications and tools, utilizing adaptive agile methodologies to deliver a minimal viable product to the business.
Assists in scheduling, determining manpower requirements, and estimating costs to project completion in order to meet user requirements.
Contributes innovative ideas and may lead large cross-functional teams, exercising independent judgment to solve unique and complex problems impacting the business.
Provides mentorship and guidance to lower-level employees.
Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in software designing & development, software architecture, programming languages, or a related field.
Preferred Certifications
- Programming Language/s Certification (Java, Kotlin, or similar)
Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency in Java and Kotlin
Experience with Android SDK, NDK, and Android Studio
Experience developing both Android services and apps
Familiarity with visual debuggers and Android Debug Bridge
Understanding of best practices in Android UI / Material Design
Solid grasp and experience with RESTful APIs
Experience with Gradle and/or Maven
Proficiency with of Git and CI/CD practices
Strong TDD, BDD, or QA Skills, especially using JUnit
The following are not required but considered a plus:
Experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP)
Experience with Embedded Systems and Custom Hardware Environments
Familiarity with Linux/Unix Systems in the context of embedded systems
Practical experience with of C, C++, and Python
Experience with Azure Dev Ops
Experience with MongoDb
Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch/Tensor Flow/ONNX
