Brunswick County Government Library Assistant (Youth Services Specialist) - Carolina Shores/Southwest Branch in Bolivia, North Carolina

Library Assistantassists children and caregivers in selecting resources, promotes interest in reading and libraries among preschool and school-age children, and organizes and presents Storytime and other age-appropriate programs for pre-school through teenage patrons.
As a Library Assistant, you will also work at the circulation desk by checking materials in and out, making copies, recording fines, calling reserves, and answering the phones. This role shelves and straightens materials, conducts shelf-reads, processes new materials, and locates materials/information in person, by phone, and online. In addition, you will assist patrons with computers, eBooks, the library catalog, and other devices as well as teach patrons to use the librarys online resources.
This position will be located at the Carolina Shores Branch - Southwest Brunswick Library but will float to all library branch locations and may be responsible for driving the library van on occasion. Evening and weekend hours required.
Library Assistants support other county departments during emergency situations.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree with previous library experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License required. Familiarity with current authors, bestselling titles, and classics preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of library systems and office equipment.
Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to twenty pounds, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
