Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer to join our team in the Maintenance Reliability organization located at the Borger Plant in Borger, Texas. The Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer is a position whose decisions have a direct impact on employee safety, environmental regulatory compliance, and profitability. Internally this job works closely with members of the Equipment Inspection team, Construction/Projects team, Maintenance team, and EHS group to address fixed equipment issues.
Responsibilities
Understand and promote the concept of proactive safety and take personal responsibility to meet the overall goal of zero incidents.
Provide specifications and recommend design modifications for stationary equipment such as pressure vessels, furnaces, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and pressure relief valves.
Lead failure analysis studies and perform engineering analyses (e.g., Fitness-For-Service Assessment, Pipe Stress Analysis) on stationary equipment and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
Provide daily engineering field support on fixed equipment for continued safe operation of multiple production units.
Develops specifications for new and repaired stationary equipment and serves as a subject matter expert for that equipment from design through installation.
Facilitate Fixed Equipment Procedure reviews and updates.
Participate in the selection of metallurgy and material specifications.

Advise Project Team and Maintenance on code requirements.
Review, Interpret, lead implementation, and track compliance with the Corporate Required Manufacturing Standards and Global Reliability Standards related to fixed equipment, such as: Damage Mechanism Review, Risk Based Inspection, Proximate Equipment, Equipment Criticality Assessment, Site Glasses, Pressure Relief Devices, Retroactive Positive Material Identification, and Mechanical Clamps.
Support pressure vessel and tank inspection planning and field coordination.
Coordinate field activities in preparation for pressure vessel and tank inspections in conjunction with the planning, scheduling and inspection work process.
Identify failure mechanisms for stationary equipment and provide recommendations for corrective or preventative measures.
Identify and manage Fixed Equipment bad actors.
Provide analysis of piping systems and pressure vessels utilizing design and engineering analysis software such as UltraPipe, Meridium, PV Elite, PlantManager, and CAESAR II.
Serve as a mentor for new engineers in the organization.
Required Qualifications
B.S. Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering or closely related technology field.
Must have at least 2 years of relevant experience in refining or petrochemical manufacturing facilities.
Must be a self-starter, have the ability to multi-task and possess good organization and time management skills.
The candidate must possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to interact well with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering license.
5+ years of relevant experience in refining or petrochemical manufacturing facilities.
knowledge in metallurgy and welding.
Proficiency in the use of the Meridium APM IDMS.
