Role Overview: Accounting Manager – Fully Remote
Ankura is looking for a Senior Associate to join our growing Accounting & Finance team. This is a highly visible role that will assist with financial reporting, technical accounting and play a critical role in day-to-day accounting activities. A successful candidate is someone with strong accounting knowledge, a growth mindset, and someone who is focused on innovation and process improvement. This role will hold key relationships within and outside of Finance, including key stakeholders such as external tax and audit teams. Below are some key responsibilities associated with this role and qualifications that we feel will make a candidate successful in this role. This role is remote based and will work either US eastern time zone or central time zone hours.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Manage a team of senior associates, while ensuring a cohesive, collaborative environment.
Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain significant fluctuations in financial statements.
Oversee Accounts Receivable reconciliation, including aging, write-offs, and bad debt reserves.
Oversee the global sales commissions and special bonus processes.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of the consolidated financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Prepare/review audit schedules, workpaper documents and financial statements, address auditor questions and escalate issues as needed.
Investigate and research proper accounting treatments for certain transactions as needed.
Partner cross-functionally with both internal and client-facing departments.
Participate in ad-hoc projects with various teams, help drive key system initiatives and improvements
Research relevant accounting literature and provide technical guidance to ensure accounting accuracy.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Accounting
5 or more years of progressive job experience in accounting, big four experience preferred.
2 or more years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Thorough knowledge of US GAAP
CPA license a plus
Good working knowledge of cloud enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems
Workday experience desired
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
Ability to multi-task, meet competing deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel using pivot tables, x-lookups, and formulas working with large amounts of transactional data
Experience with Power Pivot, Power BI, and /or Alteryx is a plus
Self-motivated and self-managed - able to think independently, creatively and opportunistically
