About The Role:

As a coop student you will conduct on-site energy audits in existing buildings, write energy assessment reports, and support MEP staff across the globe with direct accountability for project delivery. How can they save energy and reduce carbon through their lighting, HVAC, controls, EV charging, Solar PV, and beyond? This is the core question you will strive to answer and learn an enormous amount about these types of systems along the way. The purpose of this position is to gain an in-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems that serve commercial buildings via nationwide site assessment work with up to 50% travel. Our Fortune 500 clientele expects you to be part of the, “best team on the field” solutions to decarbonizing their facility portfolio.

The successful candidate will be personable, a very strong communicator and team player. Additionally, they will have a strong work ethic to help them navigate the challenges surrounding a project while keeping morale high. In the early weeks and months of the coop, mentored site visits focused on asset data collection as part of our energy audits will be a top priority to bring each new team member up to speed rapidly.

Our projects revolve around delivering considered data to demanding clients in a timely manner. Project management responsibilities will include self-scheduling, coordinating, and executing site visits throughout the US followed by research to confirm site observations, and finally reporting to communicate findings. Each team member is expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously (ideally 2-3 at a time).

This position will require frequent day and overnight travel - up to 50% and can be performed remotely. Strong preference for those located in Denver, CO; Boston, MA and Philadelphia, PA.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conducts walk-through energy audits (from 1 hour to multiple days) to assess energy savings opportunities. (This typically requires climbing ladders)

  • Interviews property owners, occupants, key site personnel and local government officials to obtain information concerning the subject property.

  • Documents the condition and physical deficiencies of a property by taking representative and detailed photographs of a properties’ site and building systems

  • Prepares complex Energy Audit Reports to include cost estimates to implement conservation and decarbonization measures.

  • Energy audit experience and LEED accreditation a plus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others to achieve client goals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Working towards or completed Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in MECHANICAL (preferred) or electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to clients.

  • Ability to adaptively solve problems in high-pressure situations. Requires strong analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite Products

  • Proficiency in using computer and smart phone programs

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

  • Ability to write reports, emails, and presentations using a distinctive style that is easy to understand

Colorado Residents: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training and experience. The hourly rate for the Intern position is $25.00 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
