HNTB Intern Urban Planner: Planning/Resiliency - Summer 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts

This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position performs research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

HNTB is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our growing planning practice in Massachusetts, specializing in roadway, bicycle & pedestrian, rail, and transit projects. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to make positive change to the way people move throughout our communities. They must have an emerging knowledge in the research and analytical methods related to transportation planning as well as the technical aspects of conceptual design. They must be interested in concept development through project implementation and the methods required to achieve success.

The position is based out of our Boston, Massachusetts office. Relocation and housing are NOT provided for this position.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assists project team members with various support tasks.

  • Conducts basic research and data collection.

  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.

  • Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials and reports.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program

What You'll Bring:

  • Attains knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
