This position is for our growing National Geographic English Language Teaching team. This position of Jr Graphic Designer would work the various expanding divisions under the Global group. Working on existing projects set by the Manager, Brand, and Communications Design utilizing NGL ELT brand guidelines and having tasks managed under our Workfront project management system. They would potentially work in a variety of mediums including print, digital, web, video, and animation. This person would also have day-to-day tasks (archiving, catalog, design review, banners, social tiles) along with bigger ongoing projects (product materials, promo materials, web page building, video) with date-driven completion. Projects would mostly work directly with the Manager, Brand, and Communications Design but potentially working with Global and Regional teams (Digital Marketing, Product Managers, K-12, Digital Platform Manager, or the Web Development team). These projects would be determined by the Manager, Brand, and Communications Design.

What you Will Do Here

  • Taking storyboards and webinars to turn into info graphs and/or animation clips. (Illustrator/After Effects)

  • Taking popular white papers and designing pages for our web team to code (Photoshop/Illustrator/Sketch (open to other systems that are used)

  • Taking a current brand guideline and standard to re-think old pages that contain important information for our publications and webinars. (Photoshop/Illustrator/Sketch (open to other systems that are used))

  • Taking brand guidelines and creating templates for international distributors

  • Explore the National Geographic image archive to help find images based on marketing needs. (Photo research)

  • Learn about the Digital Asset Management system (WIDEN) with Image archiving and help us build assets for our social channels, and international marketing partners. (Photoshop/Illustrator)

Skills You Will Need Here

  • Looking for someone with 1-2 years of experience in the creative field. Relevant degree or training in creative.

  • Comping skills in terms of creating/utilizing storyboarding for video/animation, wireframes for UI design, and conceptualizing multiple ideas for print projects before completing a full piece.

  • Working with following brand guidelines when creating designs.

  • Digital design skills (social tiles, infographics, web banners, email headers) (Use of Photoshop/XD/Express)

  • Print design skills (packaging files, bleeds, exports), packaging/print collateral, tradeshow graphics

Preferred Skills

  • UI design skills (landing pages, product pages, emails) using a CMS (Bloomreach).

  • Can use any Adobe product (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD) or outside (XD, Figma)

  • Video skills (Editing, Capturing, Lighting, Audio (micing for interviews), captions, audio clean-up, color correction. We use Adobe Premiere to edit video

  • Animation skills. (Creation of animations, creation of MOGRTs, conceptualize before completion) Use of After Effects would be preferred but not required

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$47,700.00 - $76,300.00 USD
