Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Research Project Manager I in Boston, Massachusetts

The Medical Oncology Division of Population Sciences is seeking a Research Project Manager to work in the Wright Lab. The Project Manager will have primary responsibility for the day-to-day management and oversight of multiple NIH-funded clinical trials testing scalable interventions to improve symptom management, quality of life, and outcomes for patients with advanced cancer and their family caregivers. Projects include a multi-level examination of the influences of racism on cancer pain equity, a nurse-led telehealth intervention to help patients and family members with complex care needs learn new skills to thrive, and a telehealth intervention to help improve survivorship in patients with advanced ovarian cancer among others.

The Research Project Manager must be an organized, detail-oriented team player who can work independently under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The position will be responsible for the following:

  • Day-to-day oversight and management of aspects of assigned projects according to protocol specifications; maintain overall responsibility and major decision-making authority for day-to-day operations and supervision of research group, which includes Clinical Research Coordinators.

  • Facilitates project start-up for multiple clinical trials, administrates pre-project activities, project implementation, performance and reporting, including adherence to project scope, financial targets, adherence to schedule and post-implementation review.

  • Development, implementation and maintenance of project policy documents, including standard operating procedures, IRB protocols, data use agreements, and publication policies; Responsible for IRB submissions, correspondence, and regulatory binders, including minor administrative amendments.

  • Database management which may include database design with PI directives, informatics and data dictionaries; maintain study-related databases, and prepare protocol-related reports.

  • Oversight of data collection and quality assurance methods and procedures to ensure high quality data.

  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and data integrity of patient information, which may include medical and/or genetic testing information.

  • May assist PI with preparation of grants, manuscripts, and presentations (both local and national). Tasks may include drafting of materials such as abstracts, posters, or slides.

  • May train and/or supervise Clinical Research Coordinators, Research Assistants, Research Data Specialists, and/or Graduate Students.

Bachelor's degree required in a field relevant to clinical research and 1 year of experience with project management and experience working on clinical trials (multi-center, oncology trials perferred). Experience in an academic institution and proven history of success in clinical research field is preferred. Must have knowledge of regulatory affairs, research ethics and the responsible conduct of research. A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience is preferred.
