About the role The Production Lead is responsible for leading one or more production work cells to support the efficient manufacturing of Leviton products. This position is accountable for leading and ensuring that all production systems, quality initiatives, procedures and training activities are consistent with company goals and objectives to facilitate our manufacturing processes. This position works under moderate supervision. This role provides the opportunity to work within the Network Solutions Business Unit of Leviton Manufacturing Company Inc. Responsibilities Promote and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations and alerts the Shift Supervisor of any potential hazards Assist supervisor/manager to ensure team understands and meets facility related goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and hourly productivity goals Provide a communication interface between Production Supervisor and employees to assure that problems are handled on a timely basis Communicate and interact with support personnel from Engineering and/or Quality to resolve issues related to products, production equipment and/or assembly processes. Provide input to Production Supervisor regarding the status of floor operations, team member performance and areas of opportunity Support a culture of cooperation and team unity across the assembly cell Direct and assign work orders to Assembly cells and move operators as needed to ensure efficient utilization of personnel to meet the finished goods schedules Coordinate material inventories and availability and expedite as needed Coordinate and train employees to follow work instructions and related assembly drawings for the manufacture of Leviton products Own team-based training matrixes, oversee training of new assemblers and ensure training records are submitted and correct May serve as quality designate in a work cell and/or entire production floor Document actions by completing production and quality forms, including first and last article checks Qualifications Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards Ability to multi-task, work independently and demonstrate flexibility Competently coordinate the work of others Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively both verbally and in written format Ability to use PC, Microsoft Office Suite products, and online assembly process documents Understanding of basic math skills – adding, subtracting, and measuring Ability to offer effective, supportive and positive engagement with teams that promotes learning and growth of team member skills. Regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Required use of hands to grasp and grip, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls Frequently required to walk throughout the production floor The occasional physical demands of the position include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, and eye/hand/foot coordination Lifting of weights up to 30 pounds may occur regularly, with a potential for lifting weights of up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish between colors Personal Protection Equipment must be worn in designated areas throughout production Education & Experience High School education or GED required Minimum three years’ experience working in a production environment Must be a minimum of a level III Operator or Assembler Previous leadership experience preferred Previous training experience preferred What We Offer To meet the health and wellness needs of our employees, Leviton offers a comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical (with an HSA option), Dental, Vision and Rx coverage beginning the 1st day of the month following your start date 401(k) Program with employer matching contributions.
