In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Partner with site leaders to improve safety culture and awareness, conduct employee safety and environmental training, and coordinate emergency response training drills.

  • Manage EHS projects, interface with EHS committees and emergency response teams, and support sustainability initiatives such as energy and waste reduction.

  • Travel 15%, especially with a current passport to support Cepheid global auditing.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Conduct risk assessments on processes, equipment, and chemicals, develop corrective-action plans, assist in accident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement injury prevention strategies to minimize occupational exposures and achieve world-class safety performance.

  • Monitor and assess compliance with Federal, state, and local EHS laws, conduct regulatory audits, and ensure recordkeeping and site-specific safety policies are implemented and followed.

  • Monitor employee exposure to job and chemical hazards, manage safety programs (e.g., confined spaces, electrical safety, lab safety, contractor safety, respiratory protection), manage environmental programs (e.g., hazardous waste, stormwater, air emissions), and implement emergency response, business continuity, and incident management plans.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience in Environmental Health and Safety (e.g., safety, safety engineering, safety management, occupational health, environmental science, or related discipline).

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certifications, or related certifications.

It would be a plus if you also possess or have previous experience in:

  • An FDA-regulated industry or similar highly regulated manufacturing environment, with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

  • Regulatory knowledge working under U.S. federal and state and/or equivalent regulations in safety and environment such as RCRA, OSHA, WA Department of Ecology, PSCAA, etc.

  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) first responder operations level, experience using the incident command system (ICS), able to obtain medical clearance to wear a respirator, and pass respirator fit test.

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $135,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
