Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

Responsible for advanced Power Systems Application software development and successful delivery of assigned functions to meet corporate project/product commitments. The responsibilities include working with Electric Utilities or ISOs (Independent System Operators) and Transmission and Distribution System Operators on functional software specifications, designing, coding, testing, integration, application tuning and delivery. Specifically, the essential responsibilities of the role include: Acting as a Senior member in Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high-quality design and development practices for modeling. Implement new functionalities in power system application software which includes EMS (Energy Management System), DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) and Modeling (EMS/DTS/Oil and Gas and Distribution) applications; Providing maintenance of power systems application functionality, including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces; Collaborating with system/project engineers, frontend developers and Energy Management System (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) application developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction; Consulting with other technical leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are being followed. Responsible for writing EMS Functional Software Designs; Providing input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates; Interfacing with customers on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise; and Providing marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers.

Qualifications / Requirements:

The position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and three (3) years of related experience. Alternatively, Ph.D or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and two (2) years of related experience is acceptable.

The position also requires 1 year of experience with programming skills in C++, Java or other related language; 2 years of experience with Perl, PowerShell and SQL (MSSQL and/or T-SQL) scripting languages; 1 year of experience with database operation with Oracle and SQLServer; 2 years of experience with the EMS and DMS software; 2 years of experience with delivered power systems and/or energy management systems with focus on Distribution; 2 years of experience with Power flow, Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration, Load and Volt Var Management and Distribution Operator training Simulator; and 2 years of experience with power systems and/or energy management systems with focus on transmission Network Applications like State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, Optimal Power Flow or Dispatcher training Simulator. Telecommuting is permitted for the role. When not telecommuting, must report into offices in Bothell, WA.

The salary range for this position is $155,418 to $182,160. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience and their education.
