Position Summary:
The Executive Director, Environment and Sustainability Enablement, will lead the company environmental and sustainability enablement programs. This pivotal role will set the overarching strategy for both areas, establish and monitor long-term and short-term company targets, provide technical and regulatory expertise, to enable achievement of BMS's publicly stated sustainability goals. The successful candidate will engage and influence colleagues at all levels, across all Divisions, to support the sustainability journey and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for environmental performance and sustainability enablement.
Set and monitor long-term and short-term targets to achieve BMS's sustainability goals.
Engage and influence colleagues at all levels, across all Divisions, to foster a culture of sustainability and compliance within the organization.
Lead and manage a team of technical environmental and sustainability subject matter experts to enable contemporary, risk based, solutions to challenging scenarios.
Ensure operations comply with regulatory and company standards.
Stay current with evolving sustainability reporting requirements, such as CSRD, and ensure the company meets these requirements.
Lead advocacy work with key stakeholder groups and facilitate benchmarking to ensure programs remain contemporary and effective.
Lead critical regulator engagement activities, when required, from an environmental perspective.
Provide expert knowledge on environmental risks across the organization and maintain appropriate assessment, governance and escalation processes to ensure leadership and the wider organization are focused on appropriate priorities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 12 years relevant experience.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to resolve problems in ambiguous situations and align stakeholders on business outcomes and path to achieve.
Extensive experience in technical environmental performance, sustainability enablement, and regulatory compliance.
Proven track record of setting and achieving sustainability goals within a large organization.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team of experts.
In-depth knowledge of current and evolving environmental sustainability reporting requirements, such as CSRD, and broader sustainability trends.
Familiarity with contemporary environmental solutions/best practices and knowledge of global environmental regulations and trends.
