Job Summary

The Living Matter Lab seeks a PostDoctoral Associate to join our team to research biochip-based systems. The PostDoctoral Associate will also assist with grant writing and paper writing as needed.

Who We Are

Working at the intersection of technology and art, we are passionate about interfacing with living matter, specifically with the micro-organism part of our being and our environment. Research in our lab is a continuous play with biology, engineering and art to explore the lost connection of the humankind with all other kinds. At a technical level, our research focuses around digital microfluidic biochips, devices that enable direct interaction of humans with their microbiome for diagnosis and treatment purposes. As an artistic investigation, we are looking into experiencing the micro-world in unique ways, e.g., microbiomes as a source for sustainability, bioluminescence as a guidance for escaping darkness, etc.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The PostDoctoral Associate will research biochip-based systems for phage therapy. Duties include developing biochip-based systems, implementing algorithms, setting up and running laboratory experiments, collecting and analyzing data, writing and submitting corresponding publications. The PostDoctoral Associate will work in a team environment that includes PhD students, graduate and undergraduate students, thus mentoring activities, such as meeting with the team regularly, assisting PhD students in writing, organizing tasks, presenting work progress, may be required. The PostDoctoral Associate will also assist with grant writing and paper writing as needed.

This position is funded for one year with possibility to renew.

The salary for this position will be $60,000 annually.

What We Require

  • PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering.

What You Will Need

  • Experience in programming.

  • Experience with hardware (designing circuits, programming microcontrollers).

  • Interest in microbiology.
