The WKU Advising and Career Development Center (ACDC) exists to assist students and alumni in both identifying and reaching their career and employment goals, help employers access an educated and highly trained workforce, and support faculty and staff in providing opportunities to increase student learning and skill development to meet the demands of an ever-changing work environment.

The Career Event Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating employment events and programs offered by the ACDC. These events contribute to building relationships with corporate and community organizations and creating awareness about the benefits of hiring WKU students and graduates. A successful candidate will be expected to increase job and internship postings, recruitment events, and hiring activity for the university's students and graduates. Additionally, the Career Event Coordinator will serve as the administrator and primary point of contact for the university's online recruiting system, Handshake.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate career fairs and employer events.

  • Manage all aspects of Handshake, the online recruiting system. Serve as primary point of contact for communication and outreach to its users and employers.

  • Collaborate with designated college liaisons and other faculty & staff to increase employment opportunities for students, including, but not limited to, underserved populations and graduate students.

  • Work with employers to develop marketing strategies for enhancement of employer presence on campus.

  • Facilitate relationships between employers and the university community, including students, faculty, staff, WKU Alumni Association, etc.

  • Conduct ongoing research about employer relations efforts and provide feedback on effectiveness.

  • Attend administrative staff meetings, participate in professional development activities, and represent the ACDC on campus and in the community as needed.

  • Assist with ACDC office events and other duties assigned by the Associate Director, Career Development.

  • Serve on department, division, or university committees as needed.

  • Adhere to all university policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:

  • Work in a standard office environment

  • Travel if necessary

  • Work evening and weekend hours occasionally

    Job Requirements:

  • Earned Baccalaureate degree by position start date (approximately July 1)

  • Prior work experience

    Additional Information:

Hourly Range: $18.24 - $18.97
