JOB SUMMARY: 

Business Operational Concepts (BOC) is currently seeking a Sr. Desktop SCCM Engineer to work with our government client.

 

The ideal candidate will define, design, and develop requirements for workstations, desktop systems, and laptops.  Working in conjunction with other Desktop Engineers and Senior Network / IT Infrastructure Engineers, tests desktop/laptop operating systems, platforms, and application compatibility. This position is able to identify issues and recommend the appropriate solutions for upgrades and participates in a hands-on capacity in projects to upgrade desktop solutions, patches, etc. Develops concepts, provides requirements analyses, cost estimations, benefit analysis, hardware and software interoperability, and new technology assessments.

 

This position is not considered help desk support, although a senior help desk technician that has significant experience and the skills necessary to engineer desktop solutions will qualify as a successful candidate.   Candidate should be able to research and identify known OS & application compatibility issues with Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 systems.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs desktop engineering for future enterprise deployment of systems utilizing agency specific applications as well as COTS/GOTS applications and other efforts sufficient to support requirements studies and analyses associated with project deployments and adaptive solutions / problem resolution escalated from Tier II Help Desk team for workstations, desktop systems, and laptops within the enterprise.

     

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required (Minimum) Qualifications -- Education, Certification, Experience, and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience with Desktop, Laptop, and Mobile Device support and engineering experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge and experience working with Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • Strong experience with SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) 2012 or later
  • Strong experience with MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) 2012 or later
  • Application packaging experience
  • Understanding of Active Directory
  • Experience troubleshooting desktop security and configuration management through Group Policy Objects (GPO), Local Policy Objects (LPO), Login scripts, and local scripts
  • Ability to document all solutions
  • Automation experience with VBScript or PowerShell

     

Preferred Qualifications -- Education, Certification, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist for SCCM 2012 preferred, not required
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate preferred, not required
  • Experience in IBM BigFix Manager preferred, not required
  • MCSE certification preferred, not required
