Summary You will serve as a SECRETARY (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the Ocean Engineering Department (Code 120) of PSNS and IMF. Responsibilities You will maintain and control the supervisor's calendar and advise on daily appointments or conferences. You will arrange for meetings and appointments involving agency activities, other agencies, or public or business community beyond the supervisor's immediate organization. You will maintain records on prospective recruiting efforts, request or coordinate overtime, and maintain records on performance management programs. You will compose routine correspondence of a non-technical nature for the appropriate signature. You will locate and furnish reference material when required for understanding the subject matter or preparing a reply. You will review correspondence or other documents for completeness, clarity, format, adherence to stated office and shipyard policy, and for grammatical correctness prior to presentation to the supervisor for signature. You will prepare and package correspondence on such matter as retirement certificate letters for Shipyard Commander's signature, conferences, and requests or forwards technical information for routing and distribution. You will respond to routine and non-technical request for information such as status or reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files. You will establish and maintain files primarily for the use of the supervisor, including such material as correspondence and reports. You will compile and issue various daily, weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reports, as well as one of- a kind report. You will create and review travel orders in the Defense Travel System and assists in completion of travel claims or travel vouchers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing secretarial and administrative support in an office setting scheduling appointments, preparing and reviewing correspondence, making travel arrangements, using office automation systems to ensure timely and effective deliverance of administrative services. FOR GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing office support functions utilizing automated systems to prepare and edit correspondence or memoranda, maintain and control electronic calendars, and maintain filing systems.
