Job Summary and Qualifications

The Analytics Manager (OSG) is responsible for leading, organizing, and directing analytics at-scale for new reporting initiatives and ongoing reporting needs using a variety of tools crossing numerous data sources with emphases on Surgical Reporting, Process Improvement, Emergency Department, and Throughput/Efficiency for Various Operational Metrics.

The position requires a hands-on leader who will work closely with the team, as well as corporate, group, division, and facility finance leadership. The Consulting Application Engineer will be able to understand complex ideas, demonstrate a forward-looking perspective, and make tactical decisions. The Senior Manager will motivate others to perform all duties with a focus on quality, accuracy, timeliness, and customer service. The person in this role will have high levels of respect and use good judgment with access to patient detail across all of HCA’s domestic hospitals.

General Responsibilities:

  • The Analytics Manager (OSG) will collaborate with various teams including, but not limited to Performance Improvement, Surgical Services, OSG and Service Line leadership to enhance data strategy in support of enterprise goals.

  • Develop and deploy for the Operating Room, ER reporting, Anesthesia, Case Management, and Labor to enable self-service analytics through technology implementation (primarily Power BI), as well as ensure that direct reports use practices and get appropriate training, as needed.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the area of technology, in particular Analysis Services Tabular, PowerBI, PowerPivot, Dax, Dax Studio, SQL (Query, Warehousing and Administration), Tabular Editor, SSIS, and SSDT.

  • Leverage the Enterprise Data Warehouse, and various data marts across the company, and be familiar with how to navigate numerous subject areas and interface with cross-functional teams, as needed.

  • Able to use Teradata, SQL Server, Db2, Oracle, and familiar various RBDMS and Data Warehousing systems.

  • Maximizes use of OSG server capabilities within Analysis Services and RBDMS managed by OSG by creating and implements a roadmap to capture the right type of data, ensure consistency and integration to support business needs.

  • Establishes a department-wide architecture and a collection of integrated decision-support tools providing the OSG team with easy access to insights. This includes but is not limited to Cubes that will be used in Excel by OSG Analytics.

  • Pioneers and deploys new applications in PowerBI to meet needs of leadership across various multi-functional departments.

  • Ability to manage multiple enterprise-wide applications with over 750 end users.

  • Provide Adhoc analytics on demand, and as needed.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Results-oriented, excellent ability to utilize and manage the organization’s resources to achieve goals

  • Advanced knowledge in database architecture and migration

  • Advanced SQL querying skills

  • Strong organization skills to drive multiple, simultaneous projects

  • Strong commitment to accuracy and a high level of attention to detail

  • Performs other related duties and support as assigned and modified at OSG discretion.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • Master’s Degree Preferred

  • SQL Server 70-461 Certified Preferred

  • 5+ Years of Healthcare Experience Preferred

  • Alteryx, Snowflake, Pyramid and/or Databricks is a plus

  • SSIS experience is required.

  • Experience performing in stressful and time-sensitive environments

  • Experience managing multiple enterprise-wide applications

  • Experience presenting complex healthcare information to executive leadership teams.
