Latham Centers Inc. Awake Overnight Counselor in Brewster, Massachusetts

Promote a physically safe and emotionally healthy environment while supervising students during evening residential activities and overnight sleeping hours. Latham provides a paid two-week Orientation program for all new employees upon hire. High School Diploma or GED required. Candidates with a high school diploma/ GED and are new to the human services field are encouraged to apply! He or she must have the ability to handle children/ individuals in crisis safely, with compassion. A valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record is required. Key Responsibilities: Be awake during overnight shift in order to monitor students during sleeping hours and ensure a safe environment for them. Communicate student information with other suites in a timely way. Maintain awake overnight logs. Record behavioral progress. Communicate issues impacting students and the program operation in the log and to supervisors in a timely way. Provide informal counseling with students. Maintain confidential student information. Provide therapeutic crisis intervention, as needed. All other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Any work assigned shall be related to the Employee?s normal duties, except for occasional emergencies. Fluent English speaking and writing skills, empathy and the ability to listen, good time management skills and professional appearance and demeanor are all required for this position.
