County of Cumberland Assistant Director - Drug Abuse Program in Bridgeton, New Jersey

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR DRUG ABUSE PROGRAM - Department of Human Services. Provisional Pending Civil Service Procedures DEFINITION: Assists the Director of Human Services Department Head in planning, developing, implementing, administering, and coordinating drug and alcohol and co-occurring prevention, early intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation services for the jurisdiction; does related work as required. EXAMPLES OF WORK: * Assists in planning, acquiring funds and implementing decisions pertaining to strategic plan recommendations for use of funds to abate/ameliorate the negative impact of alcohol and drug use concerns in the community. Adheres to required policies of applicable Federal, State and Local Agencies. Develops, carries out, oversees and ensures compliance of drug and alcohol services policies as approved by local and state authorities. * Acts as secretary to the Mental Health and Addictions Board and performs tasks related to carrying out its mission. * Prepares and submits periodic programmatic and fiscal management reports, directives, proposals or documents. Assures the efficient collection and retrieval of program data necessary for the preparation and submittal of reports, applications, proposals required or requested by applicable funding, supporting or contracted agencies. Monitors contract compliance obligations. Provides regular assessments of program needs, achievements, status and/or anticipated progress as well as overall evaluation of program accomplishment. Assists in preparing and submitting capital and operating budgets. Plans staffing patterns and provides direction for the assignment, training, performance and evaluation of designated staff. * Assists in developing and maintaining programs of community education, involvement and information to assure active public support. Plans, conducts, and participates in in-service workshops, field visitations, or speaking engagements to inform or educate other agencies, groups, or the public. Serves as a representative to and liaison with funding and other agencies and organizations. REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Note - Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience: * Seven (7) years of professional administrative experience in an agency operating drug and alcohol services programs. * Or Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. * Or Possession of a master's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, guidance or counseling from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in NJ. Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) and/or Mental Health License strongly preferred.
