Vitalief Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Bridgeton, New Jersey

    Salary Range : Market competitive - based on experience level.

    Work Location: Bridgeton, NJ.

    Work Hours : 40-hour work weeks include five 8-hour shifts.  There are two-day shift positions available - the hours are from 6:00am to 2:30pm daily. There is one evening shift position available – the hours are from 2:00pm to 10:30pm daily.  Must be able to work every other weekend and every other Holiday.

    Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction and close collaboration with Physicians, Physicians Assistants, Registered Nurses and/or LPNs; provides direct care services to inmates in a long-term care state prison facility.

  • Assists with feeding, bathing, and other inmate activities of daily living (ADL's) as needed within the Health Service Unit.

  • Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures as needed, including preparing the inmate for the examination including the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment and supply of inventory within the Health Service Unit.

  • Maintains current CPR certification and complete (40) hours of in-service education yearly appropriate to the position.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the rules and regulations of the Department of Corrections, clients’ personnel policies and practices universal precautions and awareness of appropriate infection control practices.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of social and behavioral aspects of the correctional facility particularly as they relate to compliance with security needs.

  • Assists in specimen collection and handling, including but not limited to drawing blood and collecting and testing dipstick urine samples.

  • Completes flow sheet documentation as required, including but not limited to intake and output, vital signs, and weights.

  • Reports observed changes in patient condition to the charge nurse in a timely manner.

    Required Skills:

  • Graduate of an approved Certified Nurse Aide program with current certification in New Jersey as a Nursing Assistant. (CNA).

  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is required; Clinically sound and confident in nursing judgment.

  • Must be CPR Certified.

  • Valid Driver’s License is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.

  • Experience in patient care and giving medication to multiple people at once.

  • Long-Term Care Facility Experience is preferred.

  • Strong personality, but at the same time always maintains professionalism.

  • Common sense, astuteness, professional, time & attendance hasn’t been an issue in previous employment.

  • Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJ Department of Corrections and the assigned facilities including, but not limited to sign in logs or electronic time clocks, searches of person and property, etc.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Typing, ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Department of Corrections in shared office environments, ability to speak clearly and write proficiently is essential, extensive reading required, extended sitting is required, intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities, ability to move from unit to unit within correctional facilities, frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls, manual dexterity and mobility for charting, hearing and sight are essential, may be required to travel within the state and ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
