NJ Employer Farm Worker in Bridgeton, New Jersey

Worker will prepare trees for harvest by cutting roots and removing soil using a shovel, pick ax, and tools. Workers will also package mechanically dig trees for transport by wrapping root ball in burlap, tying baskets and branches with sisal rope and crimping wire baskets. Workers will assist loading trailers, cover with transport tarps and tie trees using rope. In addition, workers will unload bare root trees to be planted, carrying bundles of trees, weight 50-75 pounds from tractor trailer to staging area 50-100 feet away. Workers will also prune, load, plant, ad stake new trees. Employees will perform general farm duties including but not limited to unloading and organizing supplies, cleaning up and maintenance of farm grounds and facilities. Employer may request workers to work more than the stated daily hours. Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather. Farm equipment operation: Workers may be required to operate tractors, motorized pruning equipment, skid steer and other farm equipment needed to maintain, harvest and load goods as an incidental activity. Before operating any equipment, workers will be instructed on safe operation of equipment. Repeated failure to follow safety requirements and operation instructions may result in termination. The employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to but does not demonstrate the willingness or desire to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow and ship a premium product or for any other unlawful reason. During certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to accomplish tasks, during team efforts workers must be able to work together and support co-workers' efforts.
