Marine Mammal Stranding Center Museum Docent in Brigantine, New Jersey

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, NJ, is a private non-profit organization located in Brigantine, New Jersey. The Stranding Center's main goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release stranded marine mammals and sea turtles.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is seeking a MUSEUM DOCENT to engage the public in our important work. Working Saturdays and Sundays, the Museum Docent will:

  • Deliver Sea Life Museum tours to guests of all ages
  • Answer guest questions
  • Engage guests in hands-on educational activities

This position does not work directly with the animals. A high school diploma or GED is required. Some college coursework focused on marine science or ecology is beneficial; basic knowledge of marine mammals, sea turtles, and local beach ecology is strongly preferred. Candidates must be comfortable speaking in front of groups and working with children and adults of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Candidates must have the ability to study and memorize supplied facts sheets and scripts for tour information.

All candidates must pass a drug screen and background check.
