Shell Production Forecast Engineer in Brisbane, Australia

Where you fit in

The Production Forecast & HCA team are the focal points for QGC’s Upstream and Midstream FPP (Forecast & Plan Production) and PHEA (Perform Hydrocarbon and Energy Accounting) processes. The team prepares quarterly latest estimate (LE) production forecasts, annual business plan operating plans (OP), Midstream nominations, and support ship scheduling. The Production Forecast & HCA team also accounts for the flow of hydrocarbons from well head to sales points and ship, along with preparing numerous reports to review performance with stakeholders.

What’s the role?

The Production Forecast Engineer will work closely with the Upstream FPP Lead in the support of delivering QGC Upstream FPP. You will maintain an accurate view of the Upstream LE and annual OP production forecasts. You will work with the stakeholders across the entire QGC production system to drive forecast accuracy and reflect business strategy set by the Asset leadership team

  • Prepare and submit QGC’s quarterly rolling medium-term forecast of gas and water production volumes, comparing to current OP, previous LE, and actual production. Update the annual OP production forecast.

  • Engage with stakeholders to review and validate all production forecast assumptions. Create presentations and chair meetings to challenge and review these assumptions and profiles.

  • Identify anomalies and sources of variance for review with relevant functions, ensuring updates are justified with supporting documentation.

  • Collaborate with Trading & Supply, Midstream, and Finance teams to provide an integrated view of QGC’s production system. Ensure low and high case forecasts represent QGC’s possible forecast range.

  • Support MTO (Manage Threats and Opportunity) processes, ensuring key production risks and opportunities are modeled in the latest base case forecast. Provide support to WRFM (Wells Reservoir Facilities and Management) for downhole failure and workover predictions.

  • Provide inputs for power and electricity demand. Undertake forecast scenarios and performance analysis to support business decision-making initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with Shell’s Environment & Asset Management framework and implement ongoing FPP improvement plans. Support deliverables across the wider Production Forecast & HCA team based on business priorities.

What we need from you

We are keen to speak to professionals with the following:

  • Tertiary degree preferred (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Commerical or other technical related discipline)

  • Demonstrated/proven experience in the oil and gas industry, preferred.

  • Previous production modelling experience and/or understanding of Quorum Enersight platform is advantageous but not essential.

  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation & procedures.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience collating and analysing large volumes of data to generate management reports are key skills to this role.

  • You will thrive in your strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships with a wide and diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Comfortable preparing and presenting forecast analysis and material.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good time management skills and ability to prioritise and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Results-orientated with a commitment to quality and continual improvement. Should be highly self-motivated and able to work independently.
