This role supports the successful integration of new systems, products, services, and validation campaigns to assure the quality of the deliveries on behalf of EE and its customers, through technical and commercial launch. The successful candidate must be eligible for Security Clearance.

What you’ll be doing

Using specialist technical skills where appropriate, responsible for producing the test plan for impacted systems and services within their remit; co-ordinating, planning, executing, and documenting test activities to help ensure that new and changed network technology services/systems meet requirements.

You’ll be:

  • Liaising with colleagues across Mobile and beyond, to give guidance on the technology within their own area of expertise.

  • Responsible for test planning, scripting, execution, and supporting defect management

  • Supporting the verification of new or modified systems or services introduced in the live environment as part of the handover to operations.

  • Co-ordinating risk analysis and risk management strategy, ensuring that potential risks and issues and their associated mitigation and actions are communicated and agreed with the test manager and programme test manager, to ensure informed decision making

  • Building and maintaining close working relationships with off shore partners, contractors, and 3rd party vendors.

  • Coaching and developing of other members of the team with a focus on developing test engineers.

  • Developing an understanding of the network products and systems within the department, and a broad understanding of interfacing systems.

  • Adhering to, influence, and enhance the appropriate standards and policies and provide guidance to the wider project community. Ensure all transition criteria are met and signed off by the relevant stakeholders and quality gates are tracked, communicated and signed off.

Skills required

  • Good knowledge within mobile communications industry with knowledge of cIMS, IMS, 5G, LTE, WCDMA, GSM, GPRS, UMTS and HSxPA.

  • Experience of integration & acceptance testing of telecommunications services and equipment.

  • Experience of testing E2E network services (e.g. Voice, SMS, MMS & Data), with good knowledge of Core/IN/IMS and RAN network elements.

  • Knowledge of Core Network – cIMS, IMS, CS & PS and associated signalling protocols (mainly SIP, DIAMETER, ISUP, MAP etc.)

  • Experience in Test Automation, DevOps, CI CD and leveraging these to achieve faster testing turnaround times and quality software delivery to the production environment.

  • Knowledge & Experience in Cloud Computing Technologies.

  • Knowledge & Experience of Jira, Confluence & GitLab.

  • Experience of working & delivering within Waterfall and Agile methodology.

  • Knowledge & Experience of UNIX and LINUX
