About the Opportunity

Our architectural team is dedicated to ensuring that buildings not only meet aesthetic and functional requirements but also excel in safety and compliance. Following the heightened focus on fire safety post-Grenfell in the UK, we are looking for an Architect or architectural technologist with deep expertise in encasement detailing and firestopping techniques. You will play a vital role in developing and detailing safe, compliant solutions for new builds and retrofits, ensuring the highest standards of fire resistance and safety. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of architectural safety design, making a real impact on how modern structures are conceived and delivered. Key Responsibilities:

• Encasement Detailing - Lead the design and detailing of encasement systems that adhere to post-Grenfell safety requirements, ensuring robust fire protection and compliance with current regulations.

• Firestopping Details - Develop and implement detailed firestopping strategies throughout buildings, ensuring fire safety is integrated into all aspects of design and construction.

• Fire Safety Act Compliance - apply thorough knowledge of all relevant legislation and requirements to ensure designs are best practice and legally compliant.

• Blockwork Detailing - Design and develop blockwork details and systems that integrate effectively with encasement and firestopping measures, ensuring overall structural and fire safety.

• Project Collaboration - Work closely with engineers, contractors, and other architects to ensure the seamless integration of fire safety features into building designs.

• Quality and Safety - Contribute to maintaining high standards of design quality and operational safety, ensuring all project deliverables meet regulatory, safety, and client requirements.

• Documentation and Compliance - Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation related to fire safety and structural encasement, ensuring full traceability and compliance with safety regulations.

Skills and Requirements

• Proven experience in architectural detailing, with a strong focus on encasement and fire safety post-Grenfell.

• Proficiency in firestopping design and detailing, with knowledge of materials, methods, and best practices to ensure effective fire barriers throughout a building.

• Experience in blockwork detailing and integrating fire safety measures within structural systems.

• An accredited degree in Architecture, architectural technology or a related field.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and convey technical details clearly in English.
