Red Hat Senior Quality Software Engineer - RHEL and Kernel (Czech Republic) in Brno, Czech Republic

The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the way the kernel works. You will gain a deep understanding of a variety of technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), kernel, (https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/tests/kernel/kernel-tests) and Realtime Kernel. You will make sure that our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria. As a Quality Engineer, you'll serve as the last instance before applications are released to the public. You'll create and carry out test plans, research new features, and develop automated tests. You'll need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, as well as a willingness to learn new things.

What will you do

  • Work with the complete Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Real Time (RHEL-RT) solutions portfolio and be responsible for the delivery of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Collaborate with Red Hat Kernel / Real-time Kernel stakeholders, including developers, project owners, project managers, documentation team and customer experience team, to discuss and plan resources, requirements and future road map for the project.

  • Create and review test plans to meet security, user, and capacity requirements. Establish the product support matrix and setup of additional systems or computer hardware as necessary.

  • Maintaining and updating the automated testing & pipeline, debugging any new or existing issue to optimize testing performance.

  • Run regular testing for Kernel and Realtime Kernel, and report and debug any issues that occurred during testing. Prioritize quality risks and identify tests required to mitigate them

  • Document and maintain test specifications and test reports

  • Mentor new hires and junior team members

What will you bring

  • Proficiency in Python or Bash, C is considered as a plus

  • Professional experience in Linux QE or software engineering

  • Solid skills and background in Linux OS; (independent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities)

  • Experience with Linux kernel is a plus

  • Experience with ARM systems is a plus

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
