Amergis $72 per hour Ultrasound Technician in Bronx, New York
The Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of specializedtechnical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with thedetection of medical conditions or abnormalities by producing images of theinside of a patient’s body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizingultrasonic high-frequency sound waves to detect but not limited toabnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones
Assists physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsyinstruments using sonographic techniques
Utilizes accessory equipment such as transducers,multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations
Prepares patients for procedures and explains procedures topatients
Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff
Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findingsto the radiologist
Evaluates the quality of sonograms and determines ifadditional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated
Maintains patient records following facility policy andprocedure
Performs ultrasound procedures, doppler vascularexaminations, abdominal studies and colorflow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures asrequired
Collaborates in quality control of equipment and filming andobtains service as required
Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
A certification from an accredited ultrasound school
One year of experience as an ultrasound technicianpreferred.
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
