Job Description

Abbott House is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join the Medical team. The Psychiatrist works as an integral member of the Abbott House interdisciplinary treatment team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents

  • Provide medication management for children and adolescents in foster care and evaluations as needed for Home Based Services and Court remanded evaluations.

  • Attend scheduled treatment team meetings for case reviews and treatment planning for children in our care.

  • Assist social service staff in identifying appropriate educational, developmental and mental health services in communities where children reside.

  • Serve as a liaison with community mental health providers who are serving children in foster placement with Abbott House.

  • Attend clinical staff meetings in which administrative matters, clinical issues, and agency and departmental functioning are discussed.

  • Attend continuing education seminars on topics relevant to clinical issues for children in foster care.

  • Provide complete documentation of evaluations and treatments according to agency standards.

  • Knowledge of evidence based practice and complex trauma.

  • Any other related duties as required.

    You are the ideal candidate for this role if you are a dedicate Psychiatrist professional looking to enhance grow professionally while contributing to your community. To be successful in this role you need to possess the following skills:

  • An MD with Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship in Child Psychiatry OR a Completed degree as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from an accredited university.

  • Board Certification preferred but not essential

  • Current New York State licensing

  • Malpractice coverage

  • Computer skills

    Salary Range $90.00 to $95.00 per hour

    This position is per diem
