Responsibilities


Technician needed to work in the laboratory of a nationally recognized and well-funded surgeon-scientist whose research focus is on the role of the protein ART1 in lung cancer and other malignancies. The lab is interested in downstream effects of ART1-mediated mono-ADP-ribosylation of cell surface receptors on immune cells, particularly the P2X7 receptor on T cells, but also in the effect of cell surface mono-ADP-ribosylation in the cancer cells themselves. The lab uses innovative murine models of cancer and has developed a therapeutic antibody targeting ART1. In addition, the Stiles Laboratory is part of the Integrated Imaging Program for Cancer Research (IIPCR) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a collaborative translational research team that seeks to explore other novel therapeutic targets in the tumor microenvironment for the prevention of cancer progression and metastasis.

This position will consist of the following responsibilities as follows:

  • Perform simple or moderate technical procedures under the guidance of lab PI and postdoctoral researchers including cell culture, immunofluorescent staining, western blotting, preparation of cells for flow cytometry, and murine tumorigenesis experiments. Freq; every day Low complext

  • Development of an understanding of scientific literature and of project research goals daily low




Qualifications


  • Bachelors in a Related Science required or equivalent skills and experience required. M.S. strongly preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience required, 1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture preferred.
  • Background in biochemistry or cell biology preferred.
  • Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly.
  • Organizational skills and good record keeping are required.
  • Personal initiative for optimizing experiments and day-to-day laboratory functioning.
  • Experience and/or willingness to work with murine models and maintain mouse colonies.
  • Histology:tissue sectioning and staining.
  • Cell Culture (mammalian primary cells and cell lines).
  • Understand goals and rationale of the research project, analyze data, and interpret results.
