Overview

Provide service for the facility at Fulton, Concourse, Eastchester, Milstein, Special Care, Psychiatric Outreach locations and Outreach Clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees.

  • Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.

  • Operates an electronic console and/or digital telephone instrument to handle incoming internal and outgoing transmissions.

  • Beeper Service through computer.

  • Overhead paging.

  • Placement of administrative and medical telegrams.

  • Development and maintenance of daily medical staff on-call schedules.

  • Code calls and medical/facilities emergency procedures.

  • Monitoring and emergency alarm notification procedures.

  • Disaster procedures.

  • A.O.D. call screening.

  • Provision of patient information regarding location and condition.

  • Coordination of patient telephone service.

  • Place outgoing business long distance/international related calls for persons at a station with call restriction.

  • Provide internal information regarding extensions, DID numbers on-call personnel and A.O.D.

  • Emergency message taking for medical staff and administrators.

  • Perform all related duties and miscellaneous tasks as required by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications

  • PBX digital switch or NYNEX

  • Clerical, Typing

  • High School or GED

  • Computer Experience
