The Senior Reliability Engineer’s primary duties are to utilize engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of sophisticated power tool products. The Sr. Reliability Engineer will define new product requirements, test methods, and reliability analysis needed to develop durable, disruptive, and market-leading products.
A successful candidate will bring curiosity, accountability, and strong experience in systems engineering, test development, validation, and data acquisition/analytics to the development team. The candidate enjoys a fast-paced work environment, while supporting various disciplines, with excellent visibility and opportunities to grow.
Duties and Responsibilities
Product Development
Be a subject matter expert in the development team with respect to test methods, product requirements, user needs, and data analytics
Manage user needs and design requirements from collaboration with product management and participation in user research
Collaborate with design engineers and marketing to define product specifications with respect to product life, durability, performance, and quality
Design experimental techniques to improve development and testing efforts
Interact with global engineers, suppliers and manufacturing that participate in product commercialization
Track and support multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process
Participate in, and conduct, design reviews to showcase project status, risks, and system readiness for testing and verification activities
Testing and Analysis
Develop new test procedures and create test plans to evaluate product performance against user and design requirements
Effectively document test plans, procedures, and best practices for execution in test laboratories
Perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data and reliability growth
Summarize test results with statistical techniques and present concise, logical, written and verbal conclusions
Ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)
Mentor and support other engineers on technical skill development
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related engineering field
5+ years of experience in product development, systems, reliability, and/or test engineer role
Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
Background in test development and design verification and validation. Experience with HALT and other reliability test methods is a plus
Experience including systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project team
Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software is a plus (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g. Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft, LabVIEW)
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge and experience with the phases of residential and commercial construction as well as equipment usage is a plus
Ability to travel 5-10% (includes both domestic and international)
