Nilfisk, Inc. Metrology Supervisor - CMM Programming & Inspection in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

DESCRIPTION Manage IQC team & processes. Programming and management of coordinate measuring machines. Interpretation and creation of inspection plans, ensure resources for business needs and continuity. Evaluation of completed dimensional reports. Application and interpretation of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies. Control of Calibration/Verification of measuring equipment. Statistical Process Control (SPC) for measurement, inspection, and test equipment. Application and interpretation of control charts. Use and care of measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, durometer, indicator, etc.) Carry out GR&R, Cpk / Ppk and variable studies. Perform measurement and dimensional control of parts for mold and production validation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Quality Management System (30%) Develop and maintain control of calibration, verification of measuring equipment system, Support the organization to meet with the calibration, verification plan, Support internal product and process audits, (ISO 9001, Intertek ETL), Write product test procedures, work instructions, SOPs as required, Promote the use of continuous improvement techniques, Develop CMM programs, as required, to CAD data and/or print for component parts and assemblies, Develop system in line with ISO9001 and include 17025 requirements, Drive implementation of 6S work environment. Leadership (15%): Manage & support IQC resources, Support inspectors, technicians in their daily activity, Lead and mentor inspectors, technicians guiding them in inspection techniques, quality concepts, and professional development. New Product / Solution Development support (15%): Support the creation of component inspection plans and evaluation of measurement reports for internal validations (FA) and/or for external validations (PPAP), Actively participate in APQP Process relative to gauge and fixture design or measurement techniques. Supplier Quality support (10%): Support alignment between supplier capability and design requirements, Support supplier quality issues resolution, Product Quality Assurance (30%): Give support to the production lines in urgent issues due to line stoppages or production needs, with appropriate measurements to be defined and executed for troubleshooting/problem solving, Support the corrective and preventive (CAPA) action and continuous improvement activities, Support change verification and implementation, through FA, PPAP measurements and evaluation, Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards, Ensure data capture and reporting systems for KPIs are used and performance monitored, improved regular basis, Ensure part inspection/verification completed in scope of New Product Development, Engineering Change, or Sourcing projects. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Technical degree or associates in related field, or ASQ Quality Technical certification (CQT), minimum. Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, industrial technology, computer science, engineering or a field related to scientific measurement, preferred. EXPERIENCE: 5+ years experience gained in quality-related roles. 3+ years of experience programming CMMs; proficiency in PolyWorks programming is preferred, Minimum of three (3) years inspecting parts in a manufacturing environment and quality assurance experience in an organization certified to ISO 9001, or similar, 3 years' experience in use of quality analysis, planning, validation tools such as MSA, SPC & PPAP, Previous experience in a low volume - high mix, high complexity, assembly/manufacturing environment, Experience working in Quality Assurance, Previous experience to work in ISO17025 environment, Six Sigma/Lean Manufact ring skills are advantage. KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: In-depth knowledge of FARO Arm/CMM programming, calibration, and use is highly desirable, Strong knowledge of GD&T, Ability to communicate technical and complex materials to different audiences, deliver trainings, Technical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems & components, Strong problem-solving skills with ability to teach basic problem-solving techniques and facilitate problem solving team events, Experience in managing part certification processes and vendor quality measures, Strong communication, presentation, and team skills, Strong organizational and time management skills, Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, Strong data analysis and reporting skills. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in use of MS Office software, Excel. Word, PowerPoint.
