Job Description Summary:We seek a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) to operate National Science Foundation (NSF)/National Center for Atmospheric Research(NCAR) aircraft, including EC-130Q and GV models, to support global research initiatives.

The role involves piloting missions frequently that encounter turbulent conditions, minimal instrument weather, nighttime operations, low-altitude flights, over-water crossings, and challenging terrain.

Additional Requirements:

Hold and maintain an FAA First Class Medical (which can be renewed every six months as necessary).

Maintain a valid United States Passport with no travel restrictions.

Have the ability to travel domestically or internationally for up to 16 weeks per year.

Live or be willing to move within two hours of KBJC. Some or all work must be performed on-site at RAF and/or at remote field sites that are domestic or international.

Key Responsibilities:

PIC/SIC of the NSF/NCAR EC-130Q and GV aircraft on various worldwide research deployments.

Plans, coordinates, & executes airborne research profiles, including collaboration with research teams or mission planners.

Reviews and evaluates the safety and feasibility of proposed research projects.

Ensures that NSF/NCAR aircraft are airworthy and operated in strict adherence to all aircraft and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) limits, regulations, and guidelines.

Prepares correspondence to the NSF to obtain diplomatic clearances for foreign countries.

Adheres to safety standards and protocols throughout the responsibilities and is committed to ensuring safe operations.
