Lead Value Demonstration & Access, Belgium and Luxembourg

The Lead Value Demonstration & Access (VD&A), under supervision of the Head VD&A, Public Affairs and Communication and in close collaboration with relevant functions and franchise leads, will take on the responsibility of driving and developing designated market access activities in Belgium and in Luxembourg to achieve profitable and timely access of Shire’s products and therapies to market, as well as to promote and defend the pricing and reimbursement of Shire’s marketed products.

The Lead VD&A will drive all pricing, reimbursement, listing, and health economics activities of designated Shire products, will establish and build relevant relationships with key stakeholders as well as actively, but selectively, work with interest groups (trade associations, trade bodies, consultants…) to develop market access strategies and implement all requested activities for existing and new products of Shire in order to grant and maintain access to treatment for the patients who need them.


  • Develop market access strategies and activities in close collaboration with the Head VD&A, Public Affairs and Communication and the Heads of Franchise

  • Align, plan, implement and monitor market access strategies and activities while leveraging Cluster and Global intake

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities, policy developments and latest governmental decisions that require alignment with stakeholders to protect and grow Shire’s business in Belgium and Luxembourg

  • Contribute towards registration, pricing, reimbursement, listing, healthcare economics, tax, tendering and partnering goals and activities by bringing insights on policy trends and market dynamics; share expertise proactively with business partners and functions as appropriate

  • Increase Shire’s internal knowledge about market access and public affairs trends in the healthcare sector through appropriate sharing events

  • Stakeholder management – establish, maintain and strengthen relations with key stakeholders, decision makers, influencers and payers

  • Align and collaborate, when and where appropriate, with Industry Associations

  • Act as Shire’s ambassador by positioning Shire as an innovative, professional and trustworthy partner in the healthcare sector

  • Develop and maintain professional expertise concerning Shire products and therapeutic areas

  • Contribute to national cross-functional launch teams of Shire products that will be launched in Belgium and Luxembourg

  • Key internal interfaces include: Head VDA&PA, Franchise Heads, Head Medical Affairs and Medical Leads, Head of Commercial Operations, and the GM.



  • University or Higher Education degree in natural sciences, business, law, public administration, pharmacy, engineering or medicine Languages:

  • Dutch: native

  • French: fluent

  • English: fluent Experience:

  • Significant experience (3-5 years) in a market access function in pharmaceutical industry at national level with involvement in various strategic and operational market access activities (direct and indirect).

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Belgian healthcare system and practices

  • Proven ability to develop trust-based relationships with key experts and payer representatives

  • Knowledge of hospital pharmaceutical channel & value chain

  • Thorough knowledge of Regulatory, Pricing & Reimbursement and Listing processes

  • Understanding of recent clinical and health economical methodologies/HTA used to demonstrate the value of innovative drugs

  • Understanding of commercial launch processes in the pharmaceutical industry
