Bard Manufacturing Operations Manager in Bryan, Ohio

Bard Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leader in the HVAC industry, has an opening for an experienced Operations manager at our facility in Bryan, OH.

With production facilities in Ohio, Georgia, and Mexico, we service our customers both nationwide and internationally by designing and manufacturing cutting-edge engineered products.

Scope and Responsibilities:

The Operation Manager supervises and directs the day-to-day team efforts, activities, and operations of the Bryan assembly lines, fabrication departments, and shipping department to assure that the highest quality product is being produced on time in the most cost-efficient manner within a safe and clean work environment. The Operations Manager will plan, organize, communicate, and control the production processes to meet stakeholders’ needs, while fostering a working environment people enjoy being in. This position must represent and demand adherence to the Bard Mission Statement and the Bard Quality Policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management: Directs production, production control, and shipping at manufacturing site.

  • Fiscal: This site is a P&L center with this position responsible for all variable and fixed costs related to manufacturing of finished product. Plans and manages the operations budget.

  • Quality: Responsible for quality of shipped products. Ensures quality system prevents product non-conformances and manufacturing processes are controlled to meet product specifications. Partners with Quality department on executing quality system. Fosters a structured problem solving approach.

  • Shipments: Responsible for shipping product on time to meet customer promise dates.

  • Production Control: Responsible for management of raw material and WIP inventory control to ensure availability of inventory to meet production schedules and optimize inventory levels. Works closely with materials and master scheduler on the development of production schedule.

  • Safety: Works in harmony with Corporate Safety on a 6S approach throughout the plant.

  • Continuous Improvement: Aligns plants strategies for continuous improvement to overall company-wide operational strategies. Bases development of continuous improvement strategies on principles of lean and six sigma.

  • Human Resources: Partners with HR on employee relations. Actively participates in grievance resolutions.

  • Compliance & Legal: Ensures all employees and business practices comply with Bard’s code of ethics and legal requirements. Maintains a workplace environment that encourages frank and open communications and free from fear of reprisal.

Required Experience:

The successful candidate will possess the following skills/abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field desired, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Production/Operations Management required

  • Background in High Mix/Low Volume Production

  • Union Labor / Management Relations Experience Required

  • Prior Materials Management Experience a plus

  • Experience with Engineered Products a Plus

  • Sheet Metal Fabrication and/or HVAC Industry Experience a Plus

  • Worked in an ISO 9001:2015 Standard or Similar Environment

  • Lean Enterprise, Toyota Production System

  • Six Sigma, Structured Problem-Solving Skills

  • Business Process Improvement

  • Project Management

  • Strong Oral & Written Communications Skills

  • Ability to Act as a Change Agent

  • ERP (Especially MRP) Knowledge
