Danaher Corporation Senior Legal Counsel UK and Ireland in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

The Senior Legal Counsel UK position is responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, direction and assistance in connection with a wide variety of legal and compliance matters to the companies in the Danaher Diagnostics Platform based in the UK.

This position is part of the UK and Ireland Sub-Region , located in the UK and will be hybrid. You will be a part of the Dx EU Legal team and report to the Danaher Diagnostics Platform (DX) Senior Counsel for the UK, Ireland & Central and Eastern Europe Sub-Region.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 15 or more years of practice;

  • Experience in interacting with remote internal customers and management;

  • Working knowledge and understanding of compliance programs, including privacy, regulatory and public procurement;

  • Project management skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple projects and regular and transparent reporting on progress;

  • Working in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment;

  • Ability to travel internationally, as needed;

  • Working in a multinational company supporting geographically dispersed teams;

  • Knowledge on a wide range of commercial law topics, including contracts, dispute resolution, software/AI and product security.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Strong preference for experience in the Life Sciences, Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, Technology or any other relevant industry.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Build and maintain positive relationships with local leadership and other strategic partners within the DX Platform; proactively engage and advise colleagues on the prioritization of risks and to identify, monitor and improve key processes and internal controls. Draft, review, negotiate, strategize and document commercial transactions, by contract, and / or other legal arrangements, for example, supply, services, sub-contracts, procurement and cooperation transactions, with public authorities, private partners and relevant Government agencies. Ensure proper use of the contract management system by the business team. Implement digital systems and tools designed to automate low risk, high volume routine work. Develop and implement appropriate approaches to dispute resolution, lawsuits, and arbitrations; provide regular, clear communication of litigation issues and opportunities to the Danaher DX Platform Regional Counsel, and Danaher Legal, as appropriate. Conduct legal training and education as deemed necessary or appropriate for the business. Consult on privacy issues. Support the legal work going forward in new areas such as sustainability, digital and software contracting, new technologies, AI. Support the Compliance Program, including:

  • Implement planned activities such as policy and procedure management, lead training, Conduct monitoring, and direct investigations;

  • Support in whistleblowing investigations;

  • Promote (a) use of the Compliance Hotline, (b) awareness of the Code of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures;

  • Monitor and report results of compliance / ethics efforts and provide guidance to associates on compliance matters;

  • Support the use of the automated approval tool.
