The Process Design Engineer will report to the Standard Design Lead and will be dealing with Engineering coordination for Process Engineering discipline of projects for new unconventional surface facilities and support for upgrades of existing facilities. The role covers from conceptual design, up to review and endorsement the basic and detailed engineering from Engineering contractors.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Designs and modifies equipment and facilities with some integrated processing steps such as: injection distribution systems; transfer pumps; LACTS; vapor / gas recovery units
Design and define Facilities Standards: central tank batteries (production facilities), inert gas and/or steam injection and distribution systems; wellhead facilities, compressor stations; produced water treating / disposal and softening facilities; natural gas dehydration, complex compression facilities including heat recovery.
Will be focused on engineering scope for the separation, purification, transformation, transportation, and disposition of hydrocarbons (into saleable products – from wellhead to delivery point), water and various contaminants by physical and chemical means.
Utilizes process design tools, P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), etc. Develop/review data sheets, Review and check supplier drawings, P&IDs. Develops/review specific process design for individual process equipment
Develops/review process computer simulations for Upstream systems (I.e. Hysys, pipephase).
Performs heat and material balances for units such as glycol units, gas treating plants, cooling tower, oil and gas separators, etc.
Applies knowledge of Technical Codes & Standards/CES related to process equipment. Review CES according to local need. Utilizes tools and procedures for design safety (such as API 14C, flare and relief systems, process safety management, etc.)
Helps develop and/or review designs for proper layout, safety, and human engineering issues.
Designs/review and modifies equipment and facilities with some integrated processing steps such as: injection distribution systems; transfer pumps; LACTS; vapor recovery units.
Participates in process safety management activities (i.e. RCA team member, PHAs, etc.),
May develop process startup procedures, operating instructions, and operator training guides for new facilities
May provide input to technical specifications and evaluations for equipment procurement,
May participate in process commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent; with minimum of 7 years of Engineering and Process Design of surface facilities for Oil & Gas production companies.
Experience on leading projects for Process Engineering discipline of engineering contractors or O&G operators.
Technical skills:
Fluent with process design software simulations with HySys/Pro2, heat exchangers simulations (Hextran or Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating EDR), and piping simulators: Inplant/pipephase.
Strong background and understanding of O&G technical standards API.
Exposition and skills on Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) / Hazards Operability Analysis (HAZOP´s)
Advanced English level.
Good written and verbal communications skills that enable effective communication with all levels of the organization, from work crews to top management.
Ability to identify, define problems, and provides solutions to the client through clear and precise communication. Develop clear technical documents such as equipment specifications sheet, project or facility description, and guidelines.
Leadership skills demonstrated by having projects leading roles tracked experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Desirable certifications on Project Management.
Desirable certified or trained as PHA/HAZOP facilitator
Special Considerations:
Candidate will be based in Buenos Aires with workplace located at Chevron Offices in CEL (Centro Empresarial Libertador)
Should be able to frequent travel to field in El Trapial and cover field activities including site inspections, operational procedures, construction review, PSSR, commissioning, and start up.
