Description
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for maintaining and analyzing financial and accounting records, including oversight of financial reports, income and expense reports, and budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as lead on all aspects of accounting operations including accounts receivable/payable, retirement plan, bank accounts/reconciliations, and the management of financial controls in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded.
Ensure accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiaries ledger accounts to general ledger.
Process government grant BSROE claims monthly.
Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses as directed by the Controller.
Prepare reports and schedules as needed for yearly independent audit.
Assist in analyzing and providing variance explanations (from budget and trend) related to assigned areas to accounting leads and managers for month end review.
Assist Controller with requests from other teams; with other duties and projects as assigned.
Conduct month-end close process. Ensure all monthly postings are completed in a timely manner. Identify and compile outstanding payables and receivables for accrual, resolve any outstanding transactions. Prepare monthly reports and updates schedules as needed.
Conduct private grant revenue and expense review; investment reconciliation, depreciation; inventory management and pre-paid reconciliations.
Assists internal teams to manage various requirements such as budget vs actual reporting, grant reporting, fuel tax refund claims, sales tax refund claims and business insurance issues.
Work with the Human Resources head to verify proper recording of payroll and benefits.
Assist with all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to, serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off-site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
A compressive understanding of financial/accounting matters and processes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work successfully in a team environment; confidentiality essential
Proficient in MS Office software as well as accounting software
Current & valid driver’s license and daily access to an automobile
Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 35 lbs.
Salary Description
$60,500-$65,000/yr.
