Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Civil Engineer with water and wastewater experience to join our Resilience Water team in Western New York. The position will be based in either our Buffalo, NY or Rochester, NY office.

In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to enhance your technical expertise in water and wastewater treatment design and construction engineering. As a vital member of the team, you will contribute to maintaining our strong reputation for client management and project execution within the municipal water and wastewater market in the region.

Role accountabilities:

As a Civil Engineer, you will support projects and clients through the planning, design, and construction phases of various water and wastewater-related projects, including treatment plants, stormwater systems, distribution and collection systems, and pump and lift stations. Your responsibilities will include developing construction documents, preparing technical specifications, and delivering engineering services during construction.

Your work will involve preparing detailed engineering calculations and analyses, completing design tasks within budget and on schedule, and developing project scopes, cost estimates, and other documentation. You will mentor entry-level engineers, support the efforts of others, and ensure projects meet Arcadis' quality and safety standards. Travel (up to 25%) may be required for site visits, inspections, and client meetings.

Key Skills and Attributes:

The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to collaborate with diverse project teams across local and remote offices. You should have experience in developing project drawings, technical specifications, schedules, and cost estimates, along with a background in the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including expansions, rehabilitations, and retrofits. Leadership experience in managing project delivery, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring is preferred. A client-facing role is also part of this position, requiring skills in proposal preparation, client relationship management, and expectation setting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 2 years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or an MBA
  • EIT Certification or ability to obtain within six months
  • 4 years of progressively responsible experience
  • Active participation in regional (local/state) and/or national professional associations

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $65, 000 - $105, 000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
