Description
We are seeking an HR Generalist to support our Buffalo, NY manufacturing facility. This role will play a pivotal part in overseeing recruitment efforts, fostering positive employee relations, assisting with leaves and workers' compensation claims, and driving employee engagement initiatives to enhance our workplace environment. Assists the Human Resources Manager administering programs, policies and practices that provide and maintain a positive and productive work environment for all employees.
Essential Job Functions
Recruitment and Onboarding
Lead recruitment efforts for hourly positions, from job posting to candidate selection, ensuring alignment with EEO goals. This will encompass primarily manufacturing roles but extends to internship support as directed by HR Manager and Talent Acquisition & Development Manager.
Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to understand the skills and competencies required for open positions.
Maintain employee job descriptions
Represent NMT at career fairs, aiding in talent recruitment and brand recognition. Act as point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including pre-employment screenings, new hire orientations and exit interviews, to facilitate smooth integration into and out of the organization.
Employee Relations and Performance Management
Provide consultation, investigation, and resolution support of employee relations issues. Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on matters pertaining to employee relations.
Escalates issues to HR Manager and keeps informed of progress or overarching concerns.
Assist with performance management processes, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions, to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees.
Leaves and Workers' Compensation
Assist with leaves of absence, including disability, FMLA, and other related regulations, to support employees during times of need.
Assist with workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely processing and compliance with relevant laws and policies.
Employee Engagement
In collaboration with the HR Manager, develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and morale within the facility.
Coordinate employee events, recognition programs, and feedback mechanisms to foster a culture of appreciation and continuous improvement. Assists in maintaining employee activities events budget for site location.
Continuously foster relationships with all manufacturing employees to ensure open lines of communication and trust.
What makes you a great candidate?
Bachelor's degree in HR management or related discipline
Minimum 3 years' experience working within an HR capacity
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex HR issues with discretion and integrity
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PP)
Familiarity with Applicant Tracking systems helpful
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability and willingness to interact with all people in a sensitive, responsive manner
High level of listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment

Starting salary range of $65-75k annually
