Summary: The lab of Dr. Dean Tang in the department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is in search of a Laboratory Technician to support fundamental and clinical research, primarily through the maintenance of extensive breeding colonies of genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs). The position will involve significant mouse handling, required for the breeding, weaning, and genotyping of mouse colonies and will require strict adherence to the policies of the Roswell Park IACUC. The position requires clear communication skills with COSR staff and Tang Lab members, and strong organizational skills are needed to help manage the GEMM and Xenograft mouse colonies. The laboratory technician will be expected to present a summary of their work periodically during lab meetings and, if necessary, to internal and external collaborators. The ideal candidate will also perform mouse surgeries and assist with or conduct experiments and procedures under the direction of a supervisor.

Salary range is $38,859 - $49,727 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; or
2. Associate's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time laboratory experience; or
3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time laboratory experience.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate should have a background in a scientific or veterinary related field; experience and comfortability with mouse handling and husbandry; willingness to maintain large breeding colonies as primary role; ability to follow detailed and specific research protocols; exhibited computer literacy and the ability to learn new computer programs; utilize effective organizational and note taking skills in a prior academic or professional setting; strong verbal and written communication skills; flexibility to occasionally work outside of the 9am-5:30pm Mon-Fri work schedule.
