Kenmore Tonawanda UFSD NYS Department of Labor Bus Driver Training Program Grant through Ken-Ton School District in Buffalo, New York
The Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District, through the New York State Department of Labor Bus Driver Training Program Grant, is looking for individuals interested in training to become Bus Drivers. The goal of the Department of Labor Bus Driver Training program is for trainees to earn a CDL Class B License and pursue immediate employment using the credential. Employment milestones (job entry, job retention (30 days), and job retention (90 days) will be required).
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Must be over the age of 21. Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination and drug test. Must be committed to training and processes.
Applications must successfully complete the following prior to starting the program:

19-A physical exam
PROGRAM DETAILS: Applicants will be notified of the anticipated class start date. Classes will be held at the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Transportation Department located at 1680 Military Road. The expectation for each participant is that they will be available Monday through Friday 9:30A-1PM for the duration of the program.
The program is broken down into three phases, which are described below. By submitting this application you are acknowledging you will be available for the duration of the program. Attendance is required at all phases.
PHASE 1: CDL permit test classroom preparation (weeks 1+2)
PHASE 2: CDL permit test (week 3)
PHASE 3: Behind the wheel training to prepare for CDL Class B road test (weeks 4, 5, + 6)

NO EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Trainees do not provide services to or otherwise act as employees of the District at any time during the program. Accordingly, trainees are not entitled to compensation or benefits from the District. Certain incentives and services are available in accordance with the NYSDOL grant program and funding; they are not employee compensation or benefits from the District. Trainees may apply to become a District bus driver upon completion of the program, but trainees are not required to do so and employment with the District is not guaranteed.
