M&T Bank SalesForce Marketing Cloud Technical Architect in Buffalo, New York

Overview:
Provides designs, specifies information systems solutions and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing applications to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements for M&T’s instance of SalesForce Marketing Cloud (‘SFMC’) and supported applications. Serves as a principal application designer for major modifications effectively using analytical and technical skills and available technology and tools in the evaluation of client requirements and processes. Provides solutions that are technologically sound. Completes day-to-day support activities and special projects. Often directs and monitors the activities of less experienced personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
Complete and oversee basic to complex systems analysis, design and development. Play a key role as an individual contributor on complex SFMC configuration and integration projects and maintenance and optimization activities for new and existing apps, tools and add-ons. Maintain an excellent functional understanding of the supported applications.
Direct and monitor less experienced resources and coordinate development tasks on small to large scope projects.
Prepare and manage the technical component of project plans.
Participate with Development, Operations, and Technology teams and Stakeholders as appropriate for overall systems development direction from technical analysis to user acceptance testing.
Create and maintain SFMC Automations and Journeys and related processes for triggered email campaigns and data (e.g., core use-case trigger journey alignments, data import/export automations, DE management, suppression/exclusion lists, SQL queries, complex filters, reporting data, etc.).
Configure and maintain SFMC API connections between platforms (e.g.: Distributed Marketing, Preference Center, AEM, Genesys, Amperity, SF CRM, etc.).
Configure and maintain automated data reporting processes for AEM and other first-party form data.
Configure and maintain new and existing automated SFMC Data Extracts & Reports (e.g.: CDP Send Log and Unsubscribe Extracts, VAWP Link Extracts, Journey Reporting, etc.).
Develop and maintain SFMC forms, cloud pages and interdependent automated processes as needed.
Prepare and review test data and execute detailed test plans.
Complete any required debugging. Act as a liaison between M&T's instance of SFMC, end-users and SF Premier Support to assist in ticketing, issue/bug troubleshooting, root cause analysis and issue resolution.
Evaluate and understand complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications and platforms.
Provide highly analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives.
Provide consultation services to end-users, stakeholders, technicians and Bank departments on basic to intricate functions of SFMC capabilities, operational procedures, and supported applications, etc.
Prepare and maintain thorough, clear technical and functional specifications and process documentation, charts, tables and diagrams for custom SFMC configurations. Review documentation prepared by less experienced staff.
Prepare and review assessments and project plans to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for any scope project.
Maintain efficient operation and effectiveness of SFMC and supported applications and maintenance activities (e.g.: Business Units, Sender Profiles & Classifications, Reply Mail Management, Data Extensions, SFTP, unsubscribes, automations, Data Extracts, SSO Certificate updates, EM Preference Center, etc.).
Monitor Deliverability for M&T's email-dedicated IP addresses, sending domains and sender reputation. Perform ISP/blacklist remediation procedures if necessary.
Recommend new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. May lead or participate in technical evaluations of vendor software.
Follow and promote use of development standards and procedures.
Maintain a good understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes, operations and strategic direction.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Help keep end-users and stakeholders informed with SFMC updates, new capabilities and best practices for performing work in the platform and leveraging its related tools and services to maximize operational efficiencies, risk mitigation & scalability.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties or projects as required, which may include playing a lead role in due diligence, cost/benefit analysis or business study activities.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- The position works under supervision of the Technology Team Lead and will receive general direction from the Product Owner and stakeholders. The jobholder is expected to be a SalesForce Marketing Cloud SME and is competent to work independently on all high-level systems analysis and technical phases of development and maintenance in the platform. The position is capable of managing the activities of others on a project basis for small to large scope efforts and leading project activities. The jobholder monitors staff performance on assigned projects relative to their overall abilities and effectiveness in completing projects within schedules. The jobholder may assist or help train end-users. The position interacts with senior management, other technology personnel, clients and vendors. The jobholder provides backup to higher management as required and may be called on to serve as a technical representative on committees, ad-hoc projects, etc.
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ Salesforce Marketing Cloud (‘SFMC’) systems analysis/application development and data architecture experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 10 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis/application development and data architecture experience.
Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.
Certified SalesForce Marketing Cloud Credentials (Administrator, Consultant, Developer, Platform Application Builder, Email Specialist, etc.).
Experience implementing simple to complex SFMC configurations and automations.
Ability to interpret business and technical requirements to craft comprehensive and scalable solutions with attention to detail from scoping, design and development to testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance.
Experience and solid understanding of Journey Builder and Automation Studio.
Experience with HTML, AMPscript, CSS, JavaScript and CloudPages.
Proficient in SQL and relational database concepts, scripting and query development.
Experience with Data Extensions, MC Connect, Data Loader and other ETL tools, configuring ETL automations, REST/SOAP API integrations and Postman.
Understanding of data security/privacy best practices.
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent project management, word processing and spreadsheet software
Capable of working on multiple projects of a complex nature with ability to adapt in a dynamic working environment and learn quickly.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously.
Excellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $93,581.10 - $155,968.51 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
