Sutter Health Chief Medical Executive (CME), Mills Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame, California
The Chief Medical Executive is a key member of the Administrative Team and is responsible for medical affairs, quality and providing administration (at affiliate, regional and system level) and medical staff with knowledge, experience and leadership from a medical management perspective. The CME partners with the medical staff executive leadership and the broader medical staff to facilitate the best possible working relationships with knowledge, experience and leadership from medical management perspective. The position facilitates communication and understanding among the various clinical components of the delivery system, assuring the provision of high quality, efficient and safe care. The position oversees Quality and Risk at the affiliate level. The position participates in strategic planning at the affiliate, operating unit and system level. The CME provides oversight and management of all physician emergency call and professional services agreements.
In this role, the CME works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and the system Chief Medical Officer to assure better, safer care, and enhance the environment for practicing clinicians with the goal of providing patient centered, perfect care.
Doctorate Degree (MD or DO) is required. Master’s Degree in business, medical management or public health preferred. Candidate must be California physician licensure eligible. Board certification or Board eligible desired.
Previous experience in aleadership role in a medical staff structure, such as functioning as a MedicalExecutive Committee member. At leastfive years’ experience as department chair, committee chair or chief of staff.
Demonstrated teamleadership and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesand deadlines. Strong action planningskills, interpersonal skills and proven written and verbal communication skillsare required. Flexibility, adaptability,motivation and creativity in dealing with change, timeliness and attention todetail are required as well.
Ability to read, write,hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform thejob.
Must be able to travelin and out of San Mateo County, including transcontinental travel.
